The Portuguese striker hasn't featured for Wednesday since the 1-1 draw with Brentford at the end of August, but has been in training for almost two weeks now and according to the Owls head coach, is fully recovered from the injury.

Wednesday, like the rest of the Championship teams, have been out of action for almost two weeks due to the international break, and Carvalhal took the opportunity to have his players recover after their 2-1 defeat to Ipswich at Hillsborough.

Carvalhal also said that Marco Matias is still a couple of weeks away from being available for selection, while second choice goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith is also back in training.

"It was a good time to train, to improve the team, to recover most of the players," said Carvalhal in his pre-match press briefing. "Lucas is back to normal training, he is training normal this week and we are waiting for Matias, he will probably be back this month to the team. Joe Wildsmith is training on the field - he is not 100% but he is traiining on the field so it's all good news."

On Joao Carvalhal added: "We have had some time to improve, to be better in some things we missed in the last games.

"We have more options - all of our attackers are completely diferent, they have different abilities. Fletcher has different abilities, Gary Hooper is different, Nuhiu is different, Lucas is a player with pace and a player with a good future."
