Hooper, captured on a permanent basis from Norwich City last month, registered his eighth goal in his last seven Owls appearances to put Carlos Carvalhal’s men 2-0 up.

The 28-year-old’s classy finish took his impressive tally to 10 in his last 11 outings.

“Hooper is brilliant,” said 12-goal Forestieri. “Gary was like me when I first came to the club.

“He wasn’t fit but now he is scoring every game. He is a big player for us and I am so happy for him and the team.

“When [Atdhe] Nuhiu plays, we attack from the left and right and Hooper is brilliant for me. The defenders don’t know how to deal with us. It is perfect for us.

“We are all happy, so we need to carry on like that.”

Forestieri is enjoying his best ever time in front of goal, smashing his previous season’s best total of eight.

Asked if he could get 20 goals, he said: “I don’t know. I hope more goals are coming.

“It doesn’t matter for me who scores. I had gone four games without a goal but I’m happy because we have a fit Hooper! For me, that is brilliant.

“Now I have 12 goals. If I get more, that will be welcome but I need to keep working hard.

“I want to say thank you to my team because they have helped me to score those goals. I need to keep going.”

Boss Carlos Carvalhal utilised Forestieri’s qualities on the left flank in the 4-0 thumping of Brentford.

“I like coming in from the left when Nuhiu plays because he takes defenders away from me,” Forestieri said. “I can go left, right or go long. Hooper and I are happy because we can do everything we want.”
