His side slid to a shock 2-1 defeat at the One Call Stadium less than a fortnight before they begin their Championship campaign at Wigan Athletic.

The Owls' Adam Reach scored in the second half but by then he had already put through his own goal after the Stags had taken the lead through Mal Benning.

Wednesday started brightly but were second best to Mansfield for much of an encounter which ended in controversy as punches were exchanged between players at the final whistle.

"After 20 minutes, we lost the control, Luhukay said. "We lost a lot of balls. We weren't winning much one on one."

Striker Fernando Forestieri, who had been booked late on, is thought to have punched an opponent in the face before being assaulted himself by a home player.
