The official start line was on Arundel Gate but runners lined up right back onto Surrey Street.

Mr Burkhill high-fived runners as they crossed the start line before taking to the route himself in what is his 998th fundraiser for MacMillan Cancer Support.

A group from Sheffield Boxing Centre are also running the race in memory of boxer Scott Westgarth who died following a fight in February.

The Star has contacted South Yorkshire Police for details of the incident which caused the delayed start and is awaiting a response.

The Star will be broadcasting live on Facebook from the finish line from around 11am.
