Off-duty firefighter Caz Whiteley met Jim Blockley

Caz Whiteman, who is based at South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue's training centre at Handsworth, gave CPR and mouth-to-mouth to 51-year-old Jim Blockley after he fell ill during Leicester City’s Champions’ League triumph over Sevilla last week.

The firefighter was in the crowd for the match at Leicester’s King Power Stadium when Jim suffered a heart attack.

Caz helped pitch side first aiders by delivering cardio-pulmonary resuscitation for more than 15 minutes until he was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Jim, a father-of-three, suffered three heart attacks in total but survived and is now recovering in hospital, where Caz visited him and was thanked for her efforts.

After a long embrace, Caz said: "It's just beyond belief, not just that he's alive but sat up talking. It's fantastic."

Jim said he remembered feeling a pain in his chest and waking up in intensive care, where he asked nurses what the Leicester score had been.

A relative said: "I can't put it into words. She (Caz) was brilliant. She saved his life.

"I'll always remember her. I'll never forget her."
