The area was shut off by officers who are patrolling the area, while a police helicopter has been deployed to help with the search efforts.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said officers were responding to a sighting of a wanted man.

The man was wanted for recall to prison and is understood to have run from officers after being sighted.

But the operation was stood down shortly after 4pm following no further sightings of the man.

Inquiries to find the man, who has not been named by police, are ongoing.

It is not believed there is any wider risk to the general public.
