Video: Partnership with Che Adams can only get better, says Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp

The pair scored 33 goals between them this season, a fact recognised at The Star's 10th Annual Football Awards this week where Adams picked up Young Players of the Year, while Sharp was voted the club's Player of the Year as well as grabbing the Golden Boot for top scorer in our region.

The older head among the duo believes this season will have been the making of Adams, whom he says can grow into an even better player.

"I think this year is going to be really good for him," said Sharp. "He's got a lot of experience on the pitch and hopefully he can work really hard in pre-season and score a lot more goals than he has this year."

While Sharp is the more experienced, the 30 year old also admits he can still pick up a few tips from his teenage team mate.

"I've tried with my experience, to tell him situations that I've been in," he added. "I can learn from him as well, he's got things that I've not got that I wish I did have. I think we've hit it off well, we've scored 30+ goals between us, it's been a big help to the team but we couldn't have got the awards without the team so we have to thank them as well and it's good for the football club that we have won some awards."

And 20+ goals is a traget for both players for the next campaign.

"It's something that he'll want next year, there's no reason why he can't do that - it would be nice if we both got 20 then I'm sure we would get promotion," admitted Sharp. "He's done well this season, he's had his ups and downs like myself and like the team. He can be proud of himself and hopefully he comes back an even better player next season."
