VIDEO: Nigel Adkins rues lack of second goal as Sheffield United draw with Swindon

United had taken the lead through a Billy Sharp penalty, his seventh goal in successive games, after Paul Coutts had gone down in the box, but the home side were unable to add to that early strike.

Sharp came close with a glancing header soon after putting the Blades in front, and the in-form striker was denied twice by good saves from Town stopper Lawrence Vigouroux in the second half. And the failure to add another goal proved costly as Swindon deservedly equalised with a little over ten minutes remaining when Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill fired home for the visitors.

Adkins said afterwards: "We started off really well, Paul Coutts getting himself forward, we get ourselves a penalty which was well dispatched by Billy Sharp. Billy could have had another straight after that, from a free kick he headed just past the post.

"At half time we changed it round and matched it up and going with a diamond and we got ourselves on the front foot again. That second goal was just elusive from us. Coutts broke through, we had good pressing and the goalkeeper has made some really good saves from Billy Sharp. We just needed that second goal like we did earlier on in the season.

"We had a good resolve about ourselves. I think (the goal) was the only time they had penetrated our penalty area and fair play to him he's gone and scored."
