The Star has been told the steam has been billowing out of the ground for more than a week.

The cause is being investigated.

Sinkholes caused havoc in Sheffield earlier this year. A section of Hutcliffe Wood Road collapsed without warning in April and a steaming hole appeared outside Pond Street Interchange in May.
