VIDEO: Mysterious "Ku Klux Klan" figures filmed chanting at Doncaster beauty spot

The group, dressed head to foot in long, white cloaks, were filmed at Sandall Beat Woods earlier this week by a man who stumbled upon the bizarre scene while out for a stroll.

He said: "They were all dressed in white, talking and chanting."

The footage, filmed on a mobile phone, shows a group of people in the middle of the woods, filmed from a distance through the trees.

In his commentary, captured on camera, the man can be heard saying: "What the hell is that? Loads of people dressed in white sheets in the middle of the woods talking and chanting."

The group can be heard making noises in the ten second clip - although it is unclear what is being said.

A friend of the man who filmed the video said: "Have you heard of the KKK being spotted in Sandall Beat Woods? My friend on Facebook was walking and heard chanting and singing from people dressed in white."

It is not clear what the purpose of the figures in white cloaks was in the woods, which border Doncaster Racecourse and stretch through to Armthorpe.

In 2007, walkers in the woods reported seeing four black men, clad in white sacred robes, praying before trees.

It was reported how several dog owners had seen the group at prayers in different parts of the wood.

A reader reported how he had seen the group in a clearing, kneeling toward a tree.

"All four were black, and were wearing long, white flowing robes. They had come to the wood in trainers – which they had left in a heap behind them

"I don't know if they were Druids or what, but they were apparently saying prayers for world peace."

Another dog walker said she had seen the men at prayers in a different part of the wood.

The Ku Klux Klan - also known as the KKK - is the name of various white supremacy, white nationalist and anti-immigration groups which have existed in the USA for more than 100 years and known for their white, pointy-hooded robes, burning crosses and extreme right wing views.

Modern Druids perform ceremonies in broad daylight and often meet and practice in groups called "groves" or "henges." When performing rituals, some modern Druids wear ceremonial cloaks and robes, which in some cases imitate the Iron Age style of the Celts.
