Sorry Wednesdayites, it's not the answer to this season's injury crisis - more the creation of Lego-mad fan Jordan Sykes and his half-brothers Jack, 15, and Harry Carr, 12.

The trio have so far spent around a year painstakingly building their own model of the Owls' home and are hopeful of having it complete by the end of the season so it can go on display for fans to enjoy as part of the club's 150th anniversary celebrations.

Jordan, 26, said: "I'm a big Wednesdayite and I started taking my brothers to games with me and it all started when we were sat at the Rotherham United game at home last season.

"It was a bit of a boring game and we had spoken before about doing a big Lego project and as we sat there I had the idea of building Hillsborough out of Lego."

The lads started with the North Stand as they thought it looked the easiest to build and worked from that. Jordan said they now have the roof on the south stand to do as well as a few "finishing touches" to complete the big build.

It has cost them more than £1,000 to build and they are now looking for people to buy sponsor boards which surround the hallowed turf for £20.

Primary school teacher Jordan, from Bridlington, said: "In an attempt to save my sanity I have not really kept track of the cost because the south stand cost about £250 and then the north was a bit more, then the kop was a bit more and so on.

"It's cost well over £1,000."

The lads were made family six years ago when Jordan's dad Gareth married Jack and Harry's mum Julie.

Season-ticket holder Jordan, who sits on the Kop, said he hoped to hold two separate exhibitions of the stadium, one with fans in the stands and one without.

He has printed all of the kits himself and as well as the Owls' current squad, there are also a few notable names from the past including Wednesday legends John Sheridan, Nigel Pearson and Nigel Worthington.

"It's all been made using normal Lego - nothing has been specially made but I buy it from an online marketplace rather than just a shop," he said.

"It has been quite an effort but I've really enjoyed doing it."

Plagued by injuries, Wednesday have endured a tough season in the Championship so far and former boss Carlos Carvalhal was replaced with Jos Luhukay last month.

Jordan said: "If you look at a graph of where we have been in the league throughout the season under Carlos it was always going down whereas Jos has stopped that.

"I think the injuries have highlighted how poor our recruitment was during Carlos' era. We've got a good starting line-up but I don't think the players that have come in have been good enough."
