VIDEO: James Shield on Sheffield United's derby win over Doncaster Rovers

The Star's James Shield paid tribute to the young players called into the side as Sheffield United beat Doncaster Rovers 1-0 at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Louis Reed and matchwinner Che Adams all started for the Blades as Nigel Adkins, perhaps bravely, went with youth in the cut and thrust of a derby.

And it paid off with some impressive performances, particularly from the inexperienced trio.

James said: "Nigel Adkins' team selection really did raise eyebrows before kick off with Billy Sharp left out due to an injury. The thing that Sheffield United can really take away from that game was the exciting performances of some of the young players. It was a big. big call to play the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Che Adams and Louis Reed in what was a pivotal game.

"It was a huge show of confidence from the management and the coaching staff in some of the younger Sheffield United players and you have to say that they certainly delivered."
