Head coach Carlos Carvalhal has today revealed he has committed his future to Sheffield Wednesday until the summer of 2019.

Carvalhal, linked with the Swansea City earlier in the campaign after turning around Wednesday's fortunes, agreed a contract extension in mid-April but the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

But just 48 hours before the Owls' Championship Play-Off final meeting with Hull City at Wembley, Carvalhal has opted to clarify the situation.

The 50-year-old, a surprise choice to succeed Stuart Gray last summer, has silenced his critics, leading the Owls to the brink of promotion. The former Sporting Lisbon and Besiktas chief has won many admirers for their stylish, swashbuckling brand of football.

Carvalhal, who initially penned a one-year contract, insists his side head into Saturday's showpiece fixture as the rank outsiders for promotion. The Owls finished sixth in the regular season, nine points adrift of the Tigers.
