Abdi fired in moments after Keiren Westwood had saved a penalty, giving Wednesday the lead and Fernando Forestieir doubled that with an equally impressive goal in the second half.

The Star's Sheffield Wednesday writer Dom Howson said it is now a great opportunity for Alemn Abdi to forget what has been a frustrating season so far and show OIwls fans more of what he is capable of.

"It was an amazing finish from Abdi and now you hope that he is going to really kick on," said Dom. "He was one of three changes made and it's not really happened for Abdi since he's come to Hillsborough, that was his first start in two months and if that goal doesn't give him the boost going forward, nothing will."
