Doncaster Rovers will not be making any new additions before Friday's loan deadline, boss Grant McCann has revealed.

McCann had spoken about the possibility of adding a player that would '˜get supporters off their seats' following Tuesday night's Carabao Cup defeat to Blackpool.

But after consulting with his coaching staff, he has opted against the move.

'We had a chat among the staff this morning and did not feel it was right for us,' McCann said.

'It wouldn't be very fair on a certain person in an area of the team because he's doing well.

'We just felt we were happy with what we've got.

'We're strong in every department.'

McCann admits he is somewhat short on numbers at centre back but felt any incoming defender would have had a tough time usurping Andy Butler, Joe Wright or Tom Anderson, injury notwithstanding.

'I've said before that if there is one area where I think we're a bit light it's at centre half,' he said.

'But what would be the point of us bringing in a centre half to sit on the bench or in the stands.

'In fact, they would be sitting in the stand because they'd have to be a good one to get past our three.

'That's an area we have to look at generally if there are injuries or suspensions but in the meantime we're hopeful those three can stay fit.'

The Rovers boss had hinted at a possible departure before the closing of the loan window at 5pm on Friday.

But he says his squad will remain as it currently is beyond the deadline '“ and he is happy with that.

'They're all staying, no one is going out,' he said.

'We've got about six or seven out on loan at the minute, with a few of the young lads. Mandeville, Garratt, McCullough and three or four of the young lads, which is great for them to go out and get some experience.

'It's not a big group, a big squad but there's one or two of the young lads around it. You saw on Tuesday there was a couple on the bench.

'I'd have no problems with any of those getting involved.

'I'm happy with what we've got at the minute.

'The boys have been great. We're in a good place and we don't want to disrupt it any more.

'I'm pleased with the lads that have come in.

'Paul Taylor and Jermaine Anderson had their first games the other day. If anyone wants to try and judge them on that game it'd be stupid because they will see how good players they are for the football club as the season goes on.

'We've got a real tight knit group that want to work hard and get better.'
