VIDEO: Flying Scotsman's return to Doncaster greeted by cheering crowds

Hundreds of rail enthusiasts turned out to catch a glimpse of the Flying Scotsman as she steamed back into Doncaster.

The iconic loco delighted crowds gathered at Doncaster station as she sounded her whistle and roared through on her official return to the tracks after a 10-year refit costing £4.2 million.
Scores of rail buffs of all ages packed the platforms to see the legendary loco’s homecoming - she was built in Doncaster at the Plant Works in 1923.

The event, shortly after noon, was over in a matter of seconds as the loco steamed through to gasps from the crowds.
The steam classic is making a journey from London King’s Cross to York’s National Railway Museum where she will take pride of place in the museum’s collection.
Earlier, her progress along the East Coast Main Line was halted when trespassers eager to get a good view forced Network Rail chiefs to temporarily close the tracks.
The train is packed with dignitaries and special guests - some of whom have paid up to £450 to travel on the service.
It is the Scotsman’s second visit to Doncaster in two days. She briefly passed through yesterday en route to London for today’s journey along her old stamping ground.
Rail enthusiast Brian Matthews, who travelled from Wakefield to see the Flying Scotsman said: “What a marvellous sight.
“It really does make you proud when you see something like this. She looks magnificent and I’m glad so many people have come out to see her.”
Crowds lined the length of the East Coast Main Line to see the engine which is due to arrive into York early this afternoon.
