The shooting came the day after a 29-year-old man was stabbed in a house in nearby Burgoyne Road, Walkley.

The streets are on opposite sides of Ruskin Park.

The stabbing victim was taken to hospital for treatment and was in a serious but stable condition yesterday.

Last February, 23-year-old Aseel Al-Essaie was shot dead on nearby Daniel Hill when he pulled up in a car as he was making his way to a family celebration to mark his twin sister's engagement.

Last week three men were found guilty of the murder and are to be sentenced next week.

Matthew Cohen, aged 29, Dale Gordon, 33 and Keil Bryan, 32, were found guilty on a 'joint enterprise' basis after a trial at Sheffield Crown Court.

Cohen admitted that he was driving the car from which the gun was fired but he denied knowing that the attack was planned and he refused to name the killer.

The prosecution case was that Gordon pulled the trigger and that Bryan was in the back of the car but that all those involved in the drive-by shooting were jointly responsible.

Cohen, of Clough Wood Road, Oughtibridge; Gordon, of Benty Lane, Crosspool and Bryan, of Brackley Street, Burngreave, are due to be sentenced next week.

James Good, 30, of Ringstead Crescent, Crosspool, is also to be sentenced after pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice over the burning of the car used in the drive-by shooting.
