VIDEO: Engineers return to site of major Sheffield gas leak to complete works
Engineers have returned to the site of a major gas leak - which yesterday forced the evacuation of residents - to complete road resurfacing works.
As many as 60 people - including pensioners aged in their 80s, a wheelchair user and children - were evacuated from their homes in Hatfield House Lane and Winkley Terrace in
Shiregreen in the early hours of yesterday morning after workmen hit a pipe.

People were not allowed back home until about 7pm last night.

A company spokesman said: "The gas main had been damaged earlier in the day by third party contractors carrying out work in the road.
"Gas supplies to the area have been maintained throughout the incident.
"We would like to thank local residents for their patience and cooperation during this incident."
