A romantic weekend in Paris ended with a surprise proposal for beauty queen Elena Raouna, who has starred on TV's Take Me Out, Coach Trip and quiz show Catchphrase.

The Doncaster model was stunned when boyfriend Kyri Tsikkini joined in a flashmob minutes after the couple’s flight touched down.

As her family and friends appeared, Kyri dropped to his knees to pop the question in unforgettable style.

“I was truly surprised, overwhelmed and amazed at the effort everyone had gone to,” said Elena, aged 24. “It was the perfect proposal.”

It is the first time a flashmob dance has taken place at Leeds Bradford Airport and the bridegroom-to-be had been liaising with airport staff to get arrangements in place for months beforehand.

Kyri added: “I’m very happy with how well it went and appreciate all the effort everyone put in helping me; all the guys at SLP College, who performed the dance, as well as the camera team Andy and Stefan – everyone was fantastic. Thank you. Let the new journey begin!”

Elena, from Norton, has become one of Doncaster’s best known faces, rising to fame after winning a national glamour contest for plus size models a few years ago and appearing on ITV’s Take Me Out earlier this year.

Greek Cypriot Elena, who works at Harry’s – her parents’ fish and chip eatery in Dunsville – was dubbed Miss Fish and Hips after scooping the title of Miss British Beauty Curve, a modelling contest for larger models a few years ago.

She said: “I feel truly honoured, blessed and thankful. I’m ready to start this next chapter of my life with my Kyri, and I couldn’t be happier.”

Kayley Worsley, PR and public affairs manager at the airport, said: “Congratulations to Kyri and Elena on their engagement; what a fabulous way to end their weekend break. It took a lot of planning to make sure that our terminal team were able to support and direct all other passengers around the flashmob space, but it’s been lovely to facilitate such an exciting event.”

Kyri has since made a donation to Martin House Children’s Hospice in Boston Spa in recognition of the extra staffing and effort put in place by the airport.

Jodie Shepherd, director of fundraising at Martin House Children’s Hospice, said: “We are truly grateful to Kyri for thinking of Martin House at such a life-changing time.”

Between January and March of this year Elena appeared on all ten episodes of ITV dating show Take Me Out but failed to find a date on the porgramme.

In May she spent the night clubbing with Alex Reid, the cross-dressing cage fighter ex-husband of glamour model Katie Price.
