VIDEO: Darren Ferguson may not learn of budget at Doncaster Rovers until next week

A stony-faced Darren Ferguson admitted he is unsure of what funds he will have available to him in the transfer market and is likely to have to wait until next week to find out.

The Rovers boss faced further questions on his budget, player contracts and potential new additions following Tuesday night’s draw with AFC Wimbledon.

And he insists he remains in the dark on whether he will be able to implement his plans for next season.

Ferguson was asked specifically about his plans for loanee Tom Anderson, whom he has previously expressed an interesting in signing on a permanent deal.

When questioned over whether he was still interested in pursuing a deal for the Burnley defender, he said: “I don’t know.

“I cannot answer that until I’m aware of what I can play with so I don’t know.”

Ferguson had initially expected to have his budget finalised before the end of the week following talks with chairman David Blunt and chief executive Gavin Baldwin last Thursday.

But he now concedes his next meeting may be pushed back further.

He said: “It was decided there might be a meeting this week or it might be next week.”

When asked if he felt next week would come late in relation to his planning for next season, Ferguson responded: “That’s what it is.”

The Rovers boss has previously stated that, in husband previous experience, he has typically had his working budget finalised earlier than this.

Ferguson has already informed those players who are out of contract this summer whether or not he intends to offer them fresh deals.

And he will meet with the rest of his players on an individual basis starting on Thursday.

”Some I’ve already had meetings with but on Thursday I’ll have have indvidual meetings and go through the season, “ he said.

“It will all depend on what I can bring in,” Ferguson said after being asked about how he will address Rovers’ recent lack of creative spark.

”I’m no further along than when I last spoke about it.

”We’ll see how that goes.

”But I am losing quite a few players. The ones that are out of contract, there’s going to be quite a few leaving.

”So we’ll wait and see on that.”

James Coppinger, Mathieu Baudry, Andy Williams, Craig Alcock and Cedric Evina are all out of contract at the club this summer.
