Video: Cardiff City preparing for a 'cup final' against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough

Cardiff City boss Russell Slade is gearing his side up for a match of cup final proportions next week as the battle for the final play-off place intensifies.

The Bluebirds' dramatic injury time victory over Bolton came by way of a penalty as Peter Whittingham fired home after Kadeem Harris had been felled in the box.

That, coupled with Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Derby County earlier in the day meant that the gap between the Owls in sixth and Cardiff in seventh is now four points, with the two sides set to meet next Saturday.

A draw will be enough for the Owls to secure their spot, but Slade says his team can take confidence from their last-gasp success against Bolton.

He said: "We left it late, if I had any hair, it would all be gone.

"Our chances are still slim, but probably not as slim as they were before a ball was kicked. The gap is now four points, and we have a cup final next weekend. We need to dust ourselves down and be ready for it.

Slade added: "We have to prepare for the Sheffield Wednesday game as normal, but we will do some work on the opposition and see what bodies we have available.

"I've always said that if we can take it to the last game of the season, at home, then we would take that."
