VIDEO: Bikers to take on 31 mile charity cycle in Peak District

Riders will take on The Steel Valley Ride, a 31-mile mountain bike challenge through the Peak District on July 14.

The event aims to raise funds for the Steel Valley Project, a countryside management charity in Stocksbridge working to improve the environment for people and wildlife in the Upper Don area.

The event organiser, Tom Newman said: “Riders entering the event will be able to enjoy a day of mountain biking across remote moorland, riding technical trails and descents which will satisfy anyone with a thirst for adventure.”

The mountain bike route starts and finishes at Trek Sheffield, Fox Valley Way, Stocksbridge, which is an event partner.

The store have donated a pair of Bontrager Flat Line shoes worth £119.99 which will be up for grabs in a prize draw for the first 50 entrants.

As an added incentive, participants can choose to be sponsored for the event and those who raise more, than £100 for the Steel Valley Project will be able to claim back their entry fee.

The event was first held in 2016 and returns to Stocksbridge this year after taking last year off to celebrate the Tour de Yorkshire being held in the town.

The charity recommends early entry to avoid disappointment as numbers are limited.

A proportion of the entry fees will go to the British Mountaineering Council’s ‘Mend our Mountains’ campaign to raise funds for the iconic Cut Gate bridleway in the Peak District, which forms part of the route.

Entries will close at 11.45pm on Sunday, July 1. Entries will not be available on the day.
