The area around Queens Road and Charlotte Road on the A61 near to the city centre is under water after the burst which has sent thousands of gallons of water pouring onto the carriageway.

Yorkshire Water officials are en route to carry out emergency repairs at the scene – which is the latest in a long line of burst water pipes in that area of the city centre.

In January, hundreds of homes were cut off for several hours after a huge water main burst near St Mary’s Roundabout and near to Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane stadium.

The burst was near to where a similar burst caused huge disruption for motorists last July.

Sheffield City Council’s Streets Ahead team tweeted about the burst during rush hour.
