VIBRANT SHEFFIELD: Our new home in iconic city centre building

Grant Thornton has confirmed its leading position in the Sheffield advisory market after agreeing terms to become the central occupier of the historic former National Union of Mineworkers building.

The advisory firm is the largest national accountancy practice in the Sheffield City Region, with more than 120 locally-based staff, and its relocation from the outskirts to the city centre reflects its important role supporting the city’s vibrant and growing business community.

Grant Thornton will occupy 14,000 sq ft of Grade A office space at the former NUM building in Holly Street when it moves from Broadfield Court in 2017.

Paul Houghton, senior partner at Grant Thornton in Sheffield, said: “The announcement of our move into Sheffield city centre comes at a hugely exciting time for Grant Thornton as we continue to establish ourselves as a category-of-one firm with a differentiated offer from others in our sector.

“We’re delighted to have agreed terms to relocate to the former NUM building in the heart of Sheffield’s professional and financial services business district. It is an iconic building in Sheffield and the refurbishment now under way will see it transformed from its present, somewhat tired state into a key landmark within the city’s business community.

“With the Grant Thornton name emblazoned across the front, and a 21st century interior designed to be open and available for all our clients, it will be at the heart of Sheffield’s vibrant future.”

Grant Thornton’s Sheffield office includes teams working locally and globally with corporate and private clients on audit, tax, accountancy, corporate transactions, and wealth advice.
