Vibrant Sheffield follow up event announced by Grant Thornton

Grant Thornton is staging a session on July 19 to go through some of the 604 ideas generated by its Live Lab on May 12.

The firm organised the event with the aim of making Sheffield the innovation and creativity capital of Europe.

Paul Houghton, partner and head of the Sheffield office, said: “There were hundreds of ideas generated at the #vibrantSheffield Live Lab and now we’re right in the middle of helping people come together, both on and offline, to push these ideas forward.

“Ideas as diverse as start-up funding, mentoring young people and Sheffield’s heritage are starting to take shape. We’re really encouraged by all the activity across the city and wider region, and to maintain the momentum we’re planning a follow-up on July 19.

“This will be for anyone who wants to find out about what’s been going on, share their thinking with like-minded people and get involved. The Live Lab event on 12 May was just the start, and we’re still only just beginning, but with determination and collaboration across sectors and communities I firmly believe we can shape a more vibrant Sheffield.”

Two hundred business, arts, charity, public sector and university leaders attended the event at the Millennium Gallery including city council chief executive John Mothersole, Plusnet founder Lee Strafford, Meadowhall director Darren Pearce and former Master Cutler Neil MacDonald.
