THERE have been quite a few items in The Star recently recollecting the Sheffield Blitz on The Moor. The latest was on Monday, January 17 which stated it took place on Sunday, December 12, 1940. In that year, the Sunday date was the 15th when the East End was the target.
The Blitz which devastated The Moor and other parts of the inner city took place on the night of Thursday/Friday, 12/13. I know because I was there!
A proposal has been made that an annual event takes place to commemorate the occasion so I hope that if this does happen that the correct dates are featured.
