Urgent repairs see tram train service reduced in Sheffield in run-up to Christmas

Sheffield’s Tram Train is being reduced in service from today in the run-up to Christmas.

Tram operator Stagecoach says that due to repairs being carried out on vehicles, the number of tram trains running on the network will be reduced.

Two cars damaged after deliberate overnight blaze in Sheffield suburb

A spokesman said: “The manufacturer of the Citylink fleet is carrying out improvement modifications to the trams, including those vehicles used for the Tram Train service.

“This is expected to be completed on Friday 13 December 2019.

“Until these works are completed, reduced vehicle availability means the Tram Train service will operate only two services per hour.”

It means services between Rotherham Central and Rotherham Parkgate into the city will run at a reduced rate.
