A newly married Sheffield man is launching an appeal for help to find his ‘irreplaceable’ wedding ring - which his wife hand-made for him - after he lost it on a bus.

Michael Cambell, aged 30, of Wiseton Road, married wife Lucy six weeks ago, but disaster struck when he lost his marital ring on a double-decker bus.

The white gold ring, which Lucy made for him at a jewellery business which lets you create them from scratch, fell out of his pocket on an 88 Stagecoach bus into Sheffield.

Michael said: “My wife is very understanding but I’m really angry with myself.

“Me and my wife made each other’s wedding rings, we went to an independent lady near Alfreton where you can make the rings from a piece of metal.

“It’s worth about £500 but it’s not the monetary value. It’s irreplaceable because it’s the only one.

“Stupidly I take my ring off when I am getting ready in the morning, to preserve it to stop it getting covered in hair wax.

“I put it in my pocket along with my phone. When I was on the bus, I remember pulling my phone out and that must be when it fell out onto the seat.

“I have contacted Stagecoach and they have put an alert out through their drivers but I have not heard anything yet.

“I felt sick when I realised and I still feel sick now.”

The ring has a scratched effect and is stamped with AM on the inside.

“It is the most precious item I have ever owned and it would mean absolutely everything to me to get it back.”
