Uphill struggle for fund

VOLUNTEERS from Doncaster's Mount Pleasant Hotel are climbing some of Yorkshire's biggest hills to raise cash for charity.

Staff from the hotel at Great North Road are joining with workers from Brooklands Hotel in Barnsley to hike the Yorkshire Three Peaks Walk.

Spurring them on the 24.5 mile walk involving more than 5,00ft of climbing up Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingelborough, will be the knowledge that they are raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Richard Tyas, general manager of the Mount Pleasant Hotel at Rossington, said: “This represents a real challenge for the staff at both hotels, but I’m sure we’ll have great fun raising money for a great cause!”

Karen Tyas, sales manager of the Brooklands Hotel said: “Local people affected by cancer and their families are helped by more than 50 Mac-millan nurses, doctors and specialists in hospitals and the community throughout South Yorkshire.”
