Long-awaited upgrade works are set to take place in a Sheffield suburb from March.
The Streets Ahead team has announced it will swoop into Stocksbridge to carry out such work as road and pavement resurfacing, installation of new street lights, drain upgrades and replacement of some highway trees.
The work will start in the west of Stocksbridge on roads including Coronation Road, Moorland Drive, and Hole House Lane. Workers will then move across the area to the east, taking in Armitage Road, Linden Crescent and Alpine Road.
Coun Jayne Dunn, cabinet member for streetscene, said: “It’s exciting to see the Streets Ahead project progressing across the city and moving into a large area to bring the roads, pavements and streetscene up to standard, which when completed will make the area a better place to live, work and visit.
“We want everyone to find out more about what Streets Ahead are doing and I would encourage everyone in the Stocksbridge area to come to a roadshow and find out which roads will be affected and when.”
The Streets Ahead roadshow gives residents the chance to find out more about the works before they begin.
Tomorrow, the bus will be at the Stubbin Estate Community Centre from 11am to 1pm, the Silver Fox pub from 2pm to 4pm, and the Co-op supermarket from 5pm to 7pm.
A Streets Ahead representative will also be at the Step Business Centre in Stocksbridge throughout the works. Drop-in sessions are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am to 1pm.
