Firefighters found her slumped in an upstairs bedroom, but she could not be revived.

Fire investigators and police officers have arrived at the semi-detached property this morning to carry out an investigation into the cause of the fire, which started on the first floor.

A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: "Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels to tackle the fire, with the first floor of the property well alight.

"The body of a woman was found inside the property. A second woman, who was already out of the property when firefighters arrived, was taken to hospital by ambulance."
