UPDATE: Woman, 50, dies after '˜altercation' at Sheffield social club

A 50-year-old woman has died after an '˜altercation' at a Sheffield social club last night, police have confirmed this afternoon.

Manor Social Club on City Road, Manor Top, is sealed off and under police guard.

Flowers have been left outside the club.

Detective Chief Inspector David Stopford, the investigating officer, said: “A fifty-year-old woman was admitted to the Northern General Hospital in the early hours of this morning (Monday, February 29) and sadly died a short time later.

“We know this woman was at the Manor Estates Social Club in City Road earlier yesterday evening (Sunday, February 28) where an alleged altercation has taken place.

“What I need is for people who were at the venue last night and have been witnesses to what took place to come forward so we can establish the circumstances leading to this woman’s injuries.”
