UPDATE: Two arrests after man stabbed in neck and left with significant wounds in Rotherham

Police have been called to a '˜serious assault' in Rotherham town centre which has left a man with '˜significant' neck wounds tonight.

Inspector Abdul Aziz tweeted that ‘numerous resources’ have been sent to Rotherham town centre to deal with the serious asssult.

He said that an adult male victim has suffered ‘significant wounds to the neck’, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

UPDATE: A 30-year-old man has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in the neck.

Two people, a man and a woman, have been arrested.

The incident happened in the Eastwood area of Rotherham at about 4pm today.

Insp Aziz told The Star: “At 4pm today we received reports that a 30-year-old male had been stabbed in the Eastwood area of Rotherham.

“The victim has suffered significant wounds to his head and neck.

“He is now being treated at Northern General. Numerous police resources quickly contained the area and identified key witnesses.

“A number of forensic scenes were secured and we began an intensive search. One adult male and one adult female have now been arrested.”
