UPDATE: Second man charged following Sheffield shooting

A 21-year-old man has been charged and remanded in custody following an alleged shooting in Chapeltown earlier this month.

Lewis Taylor, of no fixed abode, appeared before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 23 July charged with attempted murder and firearms offences.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear before Sheffield Crown Court on Monday 22 August.

Police were called at around 11pm on Friday 15 July following reports shots had been fired in Burncross Road, Chapeltown. Nobody is believed to have been injured during the incident.

A 26-year-old man is also charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm in connection with this incident. Jamie Lee Howden, of Barber Street, Hoyland, Barnsley, was remanded in custody to appear before Sheffield Crown Court on Thursday 18 August.

Six people, five men and one woman, were arrested in connection with the incident. They remain on bail pending further enquiries.
