The first incident took place at around 9.30pm, when police were called to reports that shots had been fired in Scotia Drive, Manor.
Police say they now believe a small, white car was used by those involved in the incident, and are appealing for anyone who may have seen the car in the area at around that time to contact the force.
In a second separate incident, at around 12.20am, it is reported that a car containing four men in balaclavas fired shots at another car in Longley Avenue West after following it from Penrith Road.
Following a search of the local area, a car believed to be involved was later recovered abandoned and on fire in Nestfield Way.
Officers believe the car, a black mini, was stolen from the Heeley area of Sheffield some weeks ago and are asking anyone with information about either incident to come forward.
Detective Sergeant John Yoxall, whose team is investigating both incidents, said: “We understand that incidents of this nature are alarming and quite concerning for those living in the local community.
“I would like to stress that we believe both incidents involve individuals known to each other and that at this time, we’ve had no reports of any injuries associated with either incident.
“There is also no information to suggest that the incidents are connected or linked in any way, though we are keeping an open mind and exploring all lines of enquiry.
“Carrying and using a firearm is a criminal offence and we have officers in both areas providing reassurance and trying to gather as much information as possible so we can identify those involved.
“If you saw anything, or have any information about either incident, please get in touch.”
Resources were sent to the local area to establish the full circumstances of the incident, and remain in the area today carrying out enquiries.
