The 21-year-old driver of a black coloured Skoda Fabia, which was travelling away from the city centre, was taken to the nearby Northern General Hospital where he died a short time later.

Two other vehicles, a black Hackney Carriage and a white Toyota Auris private hire vehicle, that were both travelling in the opposite direction were struck in the collision. A 51-year-old man who was a passenger in the Auris suffered minor injuries.
