There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding a house fire which left one man dead, say police.

Firefighters from Barnsley, Tankersley and Cudworth fire stations responded to the incident on Darley Avenue, Athersley at around 1.55am today.

The first floor of the semi-detached, brick built house was well alight and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property to search for casualties.
