A TEAM of tutors from a South Yorkshire college have completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge for a cancer charity.
Four sports tutors from Dearne Valley College walked 40km across Whernside, Pen-y-ghent and Ingleborough during treacherous weather.
Jonathan Lowes, Mick Blythe, Adam Nixon and David Merris from the Wath-based college took on chest-deep bogs, torrential rain and gruelling peaks in the allotted 12 hours.
The group dreamed up the challenge to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research after one of the group’s close friend’s daughter, Holly, aged just four, was diagnosed with cancer.
Jonathan said: “A large number of people turned back less than a mile in, due to the weather conditions.
“We made the decision that we would attempt it, which we’re glad we did for Holly.”
The team have raised more than £400 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. To donate log on to www.justgiving.com/3peaksforholly
