Sheffield Hallam University has been hailed as one of the Yorkshire’s greenest organisations by a regional business group.
The institution was awarded platinum status in business in the Community Yorkshire and Humber Environment Index, a voluntary benchmark which measures environmental management and performance.
The award, the highest possible ranking, places the university above organisations including Sainsbury’s and the BBC.
The university was commended for its achievements in cutting carbon emissions.
Mark Swales, director of estates and facilities at Sheffield Hallam, said: “This demonstrates our commitment.”
