Underground fire in Sheffield leaves homes and businesses without electricity

Homes and businesses are without power in parts of South Yorkshire today after a electricity cabling fire underground.

The blaze broke out in St Lawrence Road, Tinsley, Sheffield, at 11.20am.

Firefighters called out as a precaution remained at the scene until electrical engineers isolated the electricity supply.

They said Templeborugh, Rotherham, was affected by the power cut.

Coun Shaffaq Mohammed, of Sheffield Council, said Tinsley was also affected.
