Two Sheffield singers make city proud appearing on ITV's The Voice

Dazzling performances from West End star Matt Croke and busker Leona Norskov Jorgensen impressed the judges and caused an online sensation.

Leona, aged 26, who regularly performs on the streets of Sheffield, sang a cover of Sunflower by Post Malone and Swae Lee, impressing judge Anne Marie. She will join her team for the knockout stages.

She was praised on Twitter for her voice and personality.

Matt Croke, 33, was also among the hopefuls and won a place on Murs’ team.

The actor performed Come What May from Moulin Rouge during his blind audition.

Matt, a former pupil of Eccesfield School, has had plenty of experience singing in front of large audiences after playing the lead role of Disney's Aladdin at the Prince Edward Theatre, in London.

He said: “All my life I’ve been involved in musical theatre, it’s what I know and what I love.

“2020 changed a lot of things, but most noticeably for me I wanted to find a different way to do what I love the most.

“So when an opportunity came along to be involved with The Voice UK I jumped at it, and I am so proud to be doing my thing and to be waving the flag for the industry of which I am so proud to be involved in.”
