COMMUNITY organisers who help tackle local problems have graduated from a national scheme.

James Booker and Kerry Bently have trained in the Community Organisers programme at High Green Development Trust, in Sheffield, for a year.

The aim of the project is to help people take action to rectify problems in their areas.

James helped fight for a bus service between High Green and Rotherham to be saved.

He said: “Eventually through our unwillingness to give up the fight, we had a breakthrough.

“Through organisation and hard work, power had shifted to the community.”

Both James and Kerryachieved accreditations and have built up a network of volunteer community organisers in the area.
