Two men on murder charges over death of former Sheffield United star's brother in law in city car park

Two men are facing murder charges after the brother-in-law of former Sheffield United striker Peter Ndlovu was found dead in a city centre car park.

The body of Promise Ndlovu, the brother of Peter's sister Christina, was found in Leicester at the weekend and two men have since been charged with conspiracy to murder the 40-year-old with a further four arrests made yesterday.

Former Zimbabwe international Peter, 43, known to Bramall Lane fans as "Nuddy" helped the Blades reach the semi-finals of two major cup competitions and scored 25 goals in 135 games.

He joined United in 2001 from Birmingham City and after leaving the Blades, returned to his native Africa to see out his football career.

His best spell came with Coventry City in the Premier League, scoring 39 goals in 176 appearances for the Sky Blues between 1991-97.

He also scored 38 goals for Zimbabwe in 100 games, and is now manager of of Mamelodi Sundowns FC, a Premier Soccer League club in South Africa.

Yesterday, Ramandeep Dhaliwal, 34, and Kehar Hayer, 55, both of Leicester, appeared before magistrates in the city charged with conspiracy to murder Promise.

No application for bail was made and the two men were remanded to Leicester Crown Court for a further hearing next month.

Earlier, a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and three other men were detained on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. They are all currently in custody.

It is the latest tragedy for the footballer, whose brother was killed in a car crash four years ago.

Ndlovu himself was critically injured in the accident which killed his older brother Adam and a female passenger.

The three were travelling in Peter's SUV when it veered off the road near Victoria Falls in December 2012.
