Two men on loose after attempted armed robbery in South Yorkshire

Police are appealing for help following an attempted armed robbery at a convenience store in Barnsley in which two men believed to be involved remain on the loose.

At around 7:10am this morning (July 31) officers received reports that a masked man had entered the A and H convenience store on Lorne Road, Thurnscoe and threatened staff with a knife.

The shopkeeper confronted the offender, who is reported to have run from the store and got into a silver Vauxhall Astra waiting outside.

The vehicle was then driven onto Canberra Rise in Bolton upon Dearne where it was in collision with a fence. Two men were seen running from the scene.

Both men, who officers believe to be involved in the robbery, remain on the loose.

Officers have arrested a 25-year-old man and 19-year-old woman, both from the Worsborough area, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit an armed robbery.
