EVER heard the expression ‘it’s raining cats and dogs’?
Well residents of Coundon in Coventry can beat that after a freak storm of apples hit their town this week.
Bemused motorists were forced to take evasive actions after the fruity downpour hit on Monday night.
It’s fair to say the avalanche of apples has got everyone clearly baffled. Theories have been thrown around about freak weather causing a vortex of water pressure, lifting items from one place and dump them in another.O thers have suggested the apples were plane cargo.
Surprisingly, this is not exactly an uncommon occurence, with incidents involving fish, maggots and even frogs raining from the skies reported in the last hundred years.
Given this background, I imagine the residents should just be grateful and, as the old adage goes, ‘when life hands you lemons, make lemonade!’
Or, in this case, apple crumble.
