Two killed in horror road crash in Barnsley

Two men have been killed in a car crash in Barnsley and one woman is being treated for minor injuries.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Whams Road, Crows Edge, yesterday evening after reports of a collision. 

Two men, one aged 23 and the other 57, driving in the same car died at the scene.

A 39-year-old woman was also involved in the crash and was taken to hospital where she is being treated for minor injuries. 

South Yorkshire Police said: “It was reported that a black BMW Z3 and a black Mitsubishi Outlander were involved in a collision, near to Fox Holes Grove. 

“Two men travelling in the BMW, aged 57 and 23-years-old, suffered fatal injuries and were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.”

Police said the families of the two men have been notified and are receiving support.

The road was closed to allow investigators to carry out initial enquiries, but it has since been reopened.
