A man and a woman were taken to hospital after a car overturned in Sheffield last night.

The incident happened on Butterthwaite Lane in Ecclesfield at around 10.30pm last night.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the male driver had managed to get out of the vehicle before emergency services arrived.

Firefighters and paramedics worked together to get a female passenger out of the Peugeot 206, which was on its roof.

Both of the casualties were placed on spinal boards and taken to hospital.
