Two arrested for attempted murder after man shot in his Sheffield home

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was shot during a burglary at his Sheffield home.

The victim in his 60s was shot in his home on Hartley Brook Road, Shiregreen, in the early hours of Monday morning.

He remains in hospital in a ‘serious and potentially life-threatening condition’, police have said.

Police have now arrested two men, aged 24 and 25, on suspicion of attempted murder and aggravated burglary.

Detective Inspector Paul Wilson, the investigating officer, said: “This appears to have been an isolated incident and we are continuing to investigate this matter, which remains a priority for us.

“We are continuing to follow up a number of lines of enquiry and I would like to reassure members of the public that although incidents like this are alarming, thankfully they are rare and we continue to use all available resources to investigate and identify those responsible.”

Shocked residents living on the street described earlier this week how they had heard a ‘loud bang’ before police arrived on the road in the early hours of Monday morning.
