A Yorkshire woman, who died of sudden heart failure following a viral infection, is the inspiration behind a charity event being held in Chesterfield this summer.
Sonia Rayner, of Brampton, was just 33-years-old when she passed away last year following complications of an illness.
A devoted mother to her three children, she’d spent the majority of her adult life caring for her young family, particularly her son Jack who suffers from a rare and severe form of Brittle Asthma. Her children, aged 16, five and four, were left devastated by the sudden loss of their mother. Now a discretionary fund, established by their uncle, and Sonia’s brother, Baz, has helped to relieve a little of the strain, ensuring they have everything they need for their future - from educational fees, to equipment and facilities needed for Jack.
Britannia Bash: Party in the Park will be held in Queens Park, on Saturday June 20, in support of The Sonia Rayner Family Trust.
Sonia’s brother Baz Rayner said: “The day is very much family orientated and we hope it will be lots of fun for all. Last year’s event raised £3600 for the trust, which was phenomenal.”
