Trust commits £125,000 to health

The Coalfields Regeneration Trust is encouraging community groups in Sheffield to submit applications to secure funding from its Coalfields Community Investment Programme.

The programme has already provided more than £250,000 to groups and initiatives that support skills and employment in the local area. With the opportunity to secure up to £10,000 per application, each submission must demonstrate how it will make a lasting and positive impact on the health of those living in coalfield communities in the city.

Coalfields head of operations Andy Lock said: “We are committed to supporting coalfield communities and to meet our three strategic objectives, namely; improving skills; increasing employment rates and addressing health problems.

“The Coalfields Community Investment Programme provides community organisations with the opportunity to help us meet our objectives and to make a real difference to the lives and future prosperity of our communities.”

Since its launch in 1999, the Coalfields Regeneration Trust has engaged with more than two million people, who have benefited from support delivered by the organisation. In addition, 25,342 people have been supported into work, 5,375 jobs have been created or safeguarded, more than 1.3m people have improved skills and qualifications and 225,452 people have participated in activities that have improved health.
